Grandstream GAC Audio Conferencing Series

The Grandstream GAC Audio Conferencing Series is built for shared meeting spaces that need dedicated room audio rather than relying on an ordinary desk-phone speaker or whichever laptop happens to be available. The family combines SIP calling, room-focused microphones, speakerphone audio, network connectivity and conference controls in products designed for meeting rooms, huddle areas and boardrooms. For current planning, the key products to compare are the GAC2570 and GAC2500, with the GMD1208 serving as a supported wireless extension microphone in compatible deployments.

This page focuses on the GAC model family and the decisions buyers should make before ordering. For broader room-audio planning, acoustic considerations and service scope, see Grandstream Business Audio Conferencing Solutions. Fourteck can help compare the room, PBX, network, accessories and deployment requirements before a quotation is prepared.

Discuss Your GAC Requirement

Which Grandstream GAC option should you shortlist?

For a new conference-room project, the GAC2570 is usually the first model to evaluate. Grandstream publishes Android 10, a 7-inch 1280×800 IPS touchscreen, twelve omnidirectional microphones using its MMAD microphone-array design, a five-metre pickup range, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 dual-mode support, Gigabit Ethernet with PoE+, a built-in rechargeable battery and local audio conferencing for up to twelve parties including the host. Grandstream also documents support for up to two GMD1208 wireless microphones, which can help distribute pickup across longer tables or rooms where participants sit away from the main unit.

The GAC2500 is a different generation, not simply a smaller GAC2570. Grandstream documents six SIP accounts, seven-way voice conferencing, a 4.3-inch 800×480 capacitive touchscreen, Gigabit Ethernet, PoE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HD audio and support for linking two GAC2500 units in a supported daisy-chain arrangement. It runs Android 4.4, so a buyer planning a new deployment should verify application expectations, firmware, lifecycle, availability and compatibility instead of assuming that current third-party meeting applications will behave exactly as historical marketing material described.

The GMD1208 is an extension microphone rather than a standalone conference phone. Grandstream publishes eight omnidirectional MEMS microphones, a five-metre pickup range, a capacitive mute control, a rechargeable battery and wireless operation with supported conferencing equipment. The practical reason to add one is to move pickup closer to people who would otherwise be farther from the host device.

Modern new-room choice

Evaluate GAC2570 first when you want the newer software platform, stronger local conference capacity and current wireless connectivity.

Existing-estate continuity

Evaluate GAC2500 when the organization already uses it, needs a replacement path or has a verified legacy workflow.

Coverage accessory

Use GMD1208 where a supported host needs microphone pickup closer to participants on a longer table.

Understand the room before comparing specifications

A conference phone is not just a desk phone with a louder speaker. A desk user normally sits close to one microphone and faces the device from a fixed position. In a meeting room, several people can speak from different directions, participants may sit at different distances, laptops and papers can block sound, doors and air-conditioning can add noise, and hard room surfaces can create reflections. The GAC family should therefore be evaluated as room audio equipment that also participates in a business calling environment.

The first buying question is “how does this room join a call?” Some organizations want the conference phone to register to an IP PBX as a SIP extension. Others want a shared room device that works with laptop-based meetings. Some need local multi-party calling from the phone, while others dial into a larger server-hosted bridge. These workflows use the same hardware differently, so write down the intended meeting process before comparing model features.

Room size is only one part of coverage. A ten-seat boardroom with a long narrow table can be harder to serve than a twelve-seat room where everyone sits close to a central device. Mark the normal seating positions, presentation location, screen, door, network outlets and power. Identify where people actually speak. A published pickup figure is useful for planning, but a real remote-listener test is more important in an executive or customer-facing room.

Separate technical suitability from commercial suitability. A model can fit the room technically while the quotation still needs to confirm quantity, package contents, accessories, firmware expectations, availability, warranty, delivery and installation scope. This prevents a technically correct product decision from turning into an incomplete procurement result.

GAC2570 deep dive: current enterprise conference-phone design

The GAC2570 is Grandstream’s more advanced audio-conferencing endpoint in this family. It is positioned for meeting rooms, huddle areas, boardrooms and other small-to-medium conferencing spaces. Its design combines a central touchscreen with a wider audio enclosure intended to capture and reproduce voices from around a table. Grandstream specifies twelve omnidirectional microphones using MMAD, or Multichannel Microphone Array Design, along with a published five-metre pickup range.

The practical value of the microphone array is the ability to handle voices arriving from multiple directions. The GAC2570 is also a full-duplex speakerphone, which supports natural conversation where both sides can speak without rigid turn-taking. Grandstream includes advanced acoustic echo cancellation and beamforming in the design. These features improve the audio foundation, but placement still matters. A phone pushed to one end of a long table should not be expected to perform like the same unit placed near the normal conversation area.

The 7-inch 1280×800 IPS touchscreen gives the room a larger shared interface for call control. Grandstream publishes Android 10 as the operating system. Buyers should distinguish the Android platform from any specific meeting application. The presence of Android does not automatically prove current support for every collaboration app, login method or enterprise policy. If an app or certification is essential, verify the exact current requirement before a multi-room rollout.

The network options are strong. The GAC2570 provides a 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet interface with integrated PoE+ and supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6. Bluetooth 5.0 dual-mode support is also published. A fixed room can use wired Ethernet and PoE+ for predictable connectivity, while a flexible room can use Wi-Fi when the WLAN design, authentication and security policy support it. Wired and wireless deployment should be chosen intentionally rather than by convenience alone.

Grandstream specifies twelve-way local audio conferencing including the host. This is the phone’s local conference capability; it is not the same as the maximum number of people in an external PBX or hosted meeting bridge. If the organization joins a server-hosted conference, that platform sets its own participant limits and licensing rules. Capacity planning should identify where the conference is actually mixed.

Power flexibility is another useful feature. Grandstream publishes integrated IEEE 802.3at Class 4 PoE+ and a built-in 3300mAh battery with up to four hours of talk time. The battery can help if a meeting moves within the office, but it should not be treated as complete business continuity. The switch, access point, router, PBX and internet connection may still need backup power.

GAC2500: where the earlier platform still fits

The GAC2500 belongs to an earlier Grandstream generation, but it remains relevant because many businesses still operate installed units and buyers can encounter it in replacement, expansion and migration projects. Grandstream documents six lines, six SIP accounts and seven-way voice conferencing, together with a built-in seven-way conference bridge. For a room that already uses the product successfully, those capabilities can still meet the requirement without forcing an immediate replacement.

The device uses a 4.3-inch 800×480 capacitive touchscreen and Grandstream lists Android 4.4. That older software generation is the main issue a 2026 buyer should evaluate carefully. Application ecosystems, authentication methods, certificate requirements and enterprise security policies have changed substantially since Android 4.4. A historic statement that a conference app was available does not prove that its current version is installable, supported or permitted by an organization today.

For telephony, the GAC2500 includes Gigabit Ethernet, built-in PoE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HD audio and TLS/SRTP support. It can therefore operate as a SIP conference endpoint on a properly configured network. As with any SIP product, verify the target PBX, provisioning method, codecs, DTMF behavior, transfers and conference workflows. Registration alone does not prove every advanced feature will work exactly as expected.

A distinctive feature is support for daisy-chaining two GAC2500 units in a supported design. This can distribute tabletop audio in a larger room. However, adding another unit is not a universal fix for difficult acoustics. Cable routing, room geometry, echo control and user operation still need planning. Very large or highly reflective rooms may need a different installed-room audio design.

For a new room with no legacy constraint, compare the GAC2570 first. For an existing GAC2500 estate, take a more measured approach: check firmware, application dependency, security policy, replacement availability and business impact. A phased migration can be more sensible than replacing every working room solely because a newer model exists.

GMD1208 wireless microphone: improve pickup placement

The GMD1208 is a supporting component rather than a separate SIP phone. Grandstream positions it as a wireless conferencing microphone and publishes eight omnidirectional MEMS microphones, a five-metre pickup range, a capacitive mute button with LED indication, a built-in 1500mAh battery and wireless operation with supported hosts. For the GAC2570, Grandstream documents support for up to two GMD1208 microphones.

The reason to add an extension microphone is to move the pickup point closer to people who would otherwise sit far from the main device. In a long boardroom, the central GAC2570 may serve most participants well while the far end remains less consistent. A GMD1208 placed near those seats can create more even coverage without forcing everyone to speak toward the host phone.

Placement should follow the normal seating pattern. Keep the microphone away from laptop fans, air-conditioning outlets, projectors and surfaces that transmit vibration. Because the microphone has its own mute control, test the intended mute behavior during commissioning and explain it to users. The room should never reach a situation where participants believe they are muted while one extension microphone remains active.

Wireless accessories also need operational ownership. Decide who charges them, where they are stored, how they are labeled and what happens if someone moves one to another room. For multi-room deployments, a small equipment label and room-readiness checklist can prevent confusion. Reliability comes from both technology and routine.

Match the system to room size, seating and acoustics

Start with a simple room drawing. Mark the table, display, normal seats, presenter position, door, network outlets and proposed device position. Then identify the people who usually speak. Many “twelve-seat” rooms normally host only six or eight active participants. Designing for the normal pattern can create a cleaner result while still allowing occasional guests.

In a small huddle room, one centrally placed GAC2570 can be a straightforward design because everyone remains close to the host device. In a longer boardroom, far-end seating can justify one or two GMD1208 microphones. The objective is not to use the maximum number of accessories; it is to keep the distance from each regular speaker to a useful pickup point reasonably consistent.

Room materials can matter as much as distance. Glass walls, tiled floors, bare concrete and long parallel surfaces can make speech more reverberant. Air-conditioning outlets can add constant noise. A door to a busy corridor can create intermittent disruption. If the room is important for executive, legal or client meetings, test with a remote listener from the farthest normal chair and from any presentation position.

For a multi-room project, build a few room standards instead of forcing one model arrangement into every space. A compact huddle room, normal meeting room and extended boardroom can each have a defined standard. This keeps procurement manageable while respecting physical differences. A pilot in one representative room is usually more valuable than assumptions based on square metres alone.

SIP, PBX and call-flow planning

A GAC conference phone still needs a calling platform. That can be a Grandstream UCM, another on-premises IP PBX, a hosted PBX or another compatible SIP service. Before configuration, decide whether the room receives its own extension, whether external callers can dial it, whether users can dial outbound directly and whether the room is expected to transfer calls or create local conferences.

For a Grandstream PBX environment, use a room-specific extension naming scheme that users understand. Caller ID should make it obvious that the call comes from a meeting room rather than from a named employee. Shared rooms often do not need voicemail unless someone is responsible for checking it. Outbound restrictions, international calling and emergency-call requirements should be reviewed according to organizational policy and local regulations.

With third-party PBX platforms, generic SIP support is only the starting point. Test registration, inbound and outbound calls, codecs, DTMF, hold, transfer and any local conference functions that matter. If automated provisioning is required, confirm whether the exact GAC model has a supported profile. A device can register successfully while still lacking a desired advanced feature or template.

DTMF deserves special attention because external bridges often require a meeting ID or PIN. Mismatched DTMF settings can cause the frustrating situation where normal calls work but the bridge ignores entered digits. Include a real meeting-bridge test in commissioning rather than relying only on extension-to-extension calls.

If the room endpoint is part of a wider telephony rollout, coordinate it with the PBX change. Fourteck’s Grandstream PBX Setup and Configuration guidance is relevant when the conference phone is one endpoint in a larger communication project.

Network, PoE, VLAN and QoS planning

Conference-room audio can expose network issues quickly because every interruption affects several people at the same time. Treat the GAC as a business voice endpoint and validate the path before installation. Cabling, switch ports, VLANs, IP addressing, DNS, time services, PBX reachability and internet quality can all influence the result.

Where Ethernet is available, a wired connection is often the simplest design for a fixed room. Grandstream specifies a Gigabit port with integrated PoE+ on the GAC2570 and IEEE 802.3at Class 4 power. Confirm that the switch port supports the required standard and that the switch has sufficient total PoE budget. A switch described only as “PoE” is not enough information for a final design.

Wi-Fi is useful in flexible meeting spaces, and the GAC2570’s dual-band Wi-Fi 6 support gives it a current wireless interface. Yet voice quality still depends on access-point placement, channel utilization, authentication, roaming policy and interference. Test during normal business hours when the WLAN is loaded, not only in an empty office.

Voice VLANs can make segmentation and policy easier. QoS can help protect time-sensitive audio when congestion occurs, but the network must respect the markings end to end. A QoS setting on the phone will not repair an overloaded internet link or poor Wi-Fi design. Fix the underlying path rather than treating endpoint configuration as a cure for every voice-quality problem.

Security should include the room phone. Use strong administrator credentials, encrypted signaling and media where supported by the PBX design, controlled network access and managed firmware. Shared-room devices are physically accessible to many people, so administrative interfaces should not be exposed more widely than necessary.

Zoom, Teams and computer-audio expectations

A common procurement mistake is to assume that every conference phone with Android and a touchscreen is a native room system for every collaboration platform. SIP calling, Android, USB or Bluetooth audio and platform certification are separate concepts. A device can participate in a meeting through one method while lacking the calendar, managed sign-in or one-touch join behavior associated with a fully certified room appliance.

Grandstream lists the GAC2570 as Zoom Certified in its published datasheet. That is relevant for Zoom-focused organizations, but the exact workflow should still be checked against current Zoom licensing and device requirements. If a project depends on calendar integration, room sign-in or device management, verify those functions directly before standardizing multiple rooms.

For Microsoft Teams or another service, do not assume equivalent native behavior. A business may use the conference phone for computer audio or connect through a supported SIP route depending on the design. That can still provide excellent room audio, but users need to know where they start the meeting, where they choose the microphone and speaker, and which interface controls mute.

If the room also contains a video bar, monitor speakers or a USB camera with its own microphone, define one primary audio path. Two active microphone-and-speaker systems in the same room can create echo or confusion. A written standard such as “video from the room camera, audio from the GAC device” makes support easier and gives users a repeatable process.

Five common business scenarios

Small office meeting room: the requirement is reliable SIP calling and a dedicated room speakerphone. Evaluate a GAC2570 with wired Ethernet where possible, give the room its own extension and test from the farthest normal chair. Keep the workflow simple enough that any employee can start a call without IT assistance.

Executive boardroom: the requirement is consistent pickup from several positions and a polished user experience. Evaluate the GAC2570 with one or two GMD1208 microphones where the table length justifies them. Test with the actual remote location and meeting service used by executives. If the room is highly reverberant, consider whether a dedicated installed audio system is more suitable.

Existing GAC2500 estate: the requirement is continuity. If rooms work well, there may be no reason for an emergency replacement. Review security, firmware, application dependencies and replacement availability. New rooms can adopt the GAC2570 while older rooms migrate when business value and support conditions justify it.

Laptop-based collaboration: the requirement is better room audio while the meeting interface remains on a computer. Validate the exact laptop models, operating systems, docks, security policy and collaboration clients. Corporate policies can restrict Bluetooth or USB devices, so a consumer-laptop demonstration is not sufficient for an enterprise rollout.

Multi-site standardization: the requirement is a repeatable room design. Define exact phone model, microphone quantity, cable set, network requirement, firmware baseline, PBX extension pattern and acceptance test. Pilot one representative room before ordering for every branch. Standardization should follow validation, not replace it.

Deployment workflow for a reliable GAC room

  1. Define the meeting workflow. Record whether users make SIP calls, dial external bridges, use laptop meetings, use Zoom or combine several methods.
  2. Map the room. Record table shape, normal seats, presenter position, network outlets, power and obvious noise sources.
  3. Select the host model. Compare GAC2570 and GAC2500 according to software generation, local conference capacity, expansion requirements and existing estate.
  4. Plan microphones. Add GMD1208 units only where seat distance and room layout justify them.
  5. Validate network and power. Check PoE class, switch capacity, VLAN, DHCP or static-addressing policy, Wi-Fi coverage and PBX reachability.
  6. Configure PBX and security. Create the room extension, apply call permissions, set credentials and document the firmware baseline.
  7. Test real calls. Make internal and external calls, join the actual meeting bridge, test DTMF, mute, volume and far-seat audio.
  8. Handover to users. Provide a simple guide explaining how to start calls, join meetings, mute, adjust volume, charge microphones and request support.

This process prevents network, PBX or platform problems from being misdiagnosed as hardware faults. One-way audio can be caused by PBX or firewall configuration, bridge failures can come from DTMF settings, and poor quality can come from congestion. Test the whole communication path, not just the phone.

Regional planning for UAE, GCC and African projects

Regional projects should keep the technical design consistent while allowing building conditions, logistics and support arrangements to vary by destination. A Dubai head office may already have structured cabling, PoE switching and centrally managed Wi-Fi. A smaller branch may have fewer network outlets or depend more heavily on wireless connectivity. The room standard should specify a preferred architecture and a validated alternative.

In Dubai, Deira and Bur Dubai, offices can combine older telephony with newer SIP services during migration. Business Bay, DIFC, Dubai Internet City and similar professional-office environments may place more emphasis on executive usability, client meetings and a polished room experience. For these sites, a pilot and concise user handover can be as important as the model selection.

Abu Dhabi projects can involve corporate, education, healthcare, energy and government-related environments where change control and network security are important. Sharjah and Ajman projects can include trading companies, industrial offices, schools and clinics where buyers often prioritize practical value and dependable internal communication. The same GAC model can serve these sectors, but the room and network should determine the final configuration.

Across the GCC, including Kuwait and Oman, multi-branch organizations should standardize firmware, extension naming, network requirements and room acceptance tests. A common phone model does not create a common experience if every site uses a different PBX or WLAN design. Confirm destination-specific logistics, warranty and commercial terms in the quotation.

African deployments in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana and Nigeria can range from head offices to project sites, hotels, education, healthcare and branch networks. Connectivity quality can vary between locations, so test the intended calling service and codecs under realistic conditions. A headquarters result should not be assumed to represent every branch.

Fourteck’s wider Grandstream context is available at Grandstream Dubai by Fourteck. For a regional quotation, share the country, site count, room size, existing PBX, meeting platform and required quantity so hardware and service scope can be separated clearly.

Procurement checklist before ordering

Ask every supplier to quote against the same technical brief. State the exact model, quantity, microphone requirement, power method and delivery location. Ask whether injectors, adapters, cables or microphones are included. Product photos often contain optional accessories, so package contents should be confirmed in writing.

Define the service boundary. Does the offer include only equipment, or also PBX registration, firmware review, network configuration, installation, testing and user handover? A low hardware-only price can become expensive if these tasks are discovered later. An organization with a capable internal IT team may choose supply-only; the point is clarity.

For GAC2500, pay special attention to software generation and lifecycle. For GAC2570, confirm the current firmware recommendation and any platform-specific requirement. Do not invent or assume stock, price, warranty period or delivery time. These are commercial facts that must come from the current quotation.

Define acceptance before the work starts. A practical acceptance test can include successful PBX registration, internal and external calling, bridge joining, DTMF recognition, clear audio from agreed seats and successful pairing/charging of supplied microphones. This turns “installation complete” into a measurable outcome.

When a GAC conference phone may not be the right answer

A tabletop conference phone is not the best fit for every space. If the organization needs a fully integrated video room with multiple displays, automatic camera tracking, ceiling microphones, distributed speakers and certified one-touch calendar joining, a purpose-built video-room system can be more appropriate. A GAC device may still participate in some designs, but the room should be engineered as a complete system.

Very large training rooms and highly reflective boardrooms can also exceed the practical role of a tabletop phone. Adding more microphones does not automatically solve reverberation or uneven loudspeaker coverage. In these spaces, installed DSP, ceiling or boundary microphones and dedicated speakers may provide a better result.

Privacy is another consideration. A speakerphone intentionally broadcasts the remote party into the room, so it is not suitable for confidential calls where nearby people should not hear. Executives may use personal endpoints or headsets for sensitive conversations and reserve the conference phone for group meetings.

Finally, a new conference phone cannot repair an unstable network. If packet loss, latency, Wi-Fi congestion or poor internet service already affects voice, fix the underlying path or include network work in the project scope. Fourteck’s services information can be used to discuss configuration and support requirements.

Frequently asked questions

What products are in the Grandstream GAC audio conferencing family?

The key products to compare are the GAC2570 enterprise conference phone, the earlier GAC2500 Android conference phone and the GMD1208 wireless microphone accessory. The GMD1208 is not a standalone SIP phone; it is used with supported conferencing equipment to extend pickup.

Is the GAC2570 better than the GAC2500?

For many new deployments, the GAC2570 is the stronger starting point because it uses Android 10, a 7-inch touchscreen, twelve-microphone MMAD design, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, a built-in battery, 12-way local conferencing and support for up to two GMD1208 microphones. The GAC2500 can still fit existing deployments and validated legacy requirements.

How many people can the GAC2570 conference locally?

Grandstream specifies support for twelve-way audio conferencing including the host. This is the endpoint’s local capability. A PBX-hosted or cloud meeting can have a different participant limit set by that platform.

What is the published pickup range of the GAC2570?

Grandstream publishes a five-metre pickup range. Real intelligibility depends on room acoustics, speaking level, placement, table shape and background noise, so important rooms should be tested from the farthest normal seating positions.

Can the GAC2570 use extension microphones?

Yes. Grandstream documents support for up to two GMD1208 wireless desktop microphones. Their placement should follow the seating layout rather than simply maximizing accessory count.

Does the GAC2570 support PoE?

Yes. Grandstream specifies integrated PoE+ using IEEE 802.3at Class 4. Confirm that the chosen switch or injector supports the required standard and has enough available power budget.

Can the GAC series work with an existing SIP PBX?

The GAC phones support SIP, but the exact PBX, firmware, provisioning method and required call features should be tested. Registration alone does not prove complete compatibility with every transfer, conference, DTMF or provisioning workflow.

Can the GAC2570 be used for Zoom or Teams meetings?

Grandstream lists the GAC2570 as Zoom Certified. The current Zoom workflow should still be verified against platform requirements. For Microsoft Teams or other services, confirm whether the intended design uses computer audio, SIP integration or another supported method rather than assuming native room-system behavior.

How do I request a GAC quotation from Fourteck?

Share the country, room count, seating layout, current PBX or hosted service, preferred meeting platform, network availability and any extension-microphone requirement. Ask the quotation to identify model, quantity, accessories, package contents, configuration work, delivery terms and support scope.

Plan your GAC conference-room setup with Fourteck

The best GAC deployment is not the one with the longest feature list. It is the one that matches the room, people, PBX, meeting platform and network. For a modern new room, the GAC2570 is the primary model to evaluate. For an existing GAC2500 environment, lifecycle, compatibility and migration timing should guide the decision. Where a supported room needs more evenly distributed pickup, GMD1208 wireless microphones can be considered as part of the design.

Send Fourteck the room dimensions, normal seating positions, current phone system, conferencing platform and required quantity. The discussion can then focus on the exact device, accessory and configuration scope instead of guessing from a model name alone. Current price, availability, warranty, delivery, installation and country-specific commercial terms should be confirmed in the quotation.
